Frequently asked questions
I’ve never done therapy before. How do I start?
The first step is to reach out via phone, email, or the contact form on this website. We will schedule a free, 30-minute session where we can get to know each other, answer any questions you may have, and discuss logistics. If we determine that we are a good fit for each other, we will schedule an initial appointment.
Do you take insurance?
I currently do not take insurance and am an out of network provider (OON). If your health insurance contract has OON benefits, you may get reimbursed for the cost of treatment. In this case, you would pay for services ahead of time and submit a claim to your insurance company after the fact.
You may want to ask your insurance company the following questions:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health coverage?
If so, what percentage is covered?
Do I have a deductible and is it different for in-network versus out-of-network? What is it and how much of it have I met?
What is the co-pay for a session if I see an out-of-network provider?
How do I submit a request for reimbursement?
What is the out-of-network reimbursement amount for CPT codes 90834, 90837, 90846, 90847, 90791?
If you choose to involve your insurance company, I will have to submit a diagnosis and dates of service in order for you to receive reimbursement. I may occasionally be required to submit additional information, such as treatment plans, a description of concerns, or treatment summaries. For any questions about what information your insurance company may need from me, or what they do with your information, please contact your insurance company directly using the customer care number on the back of your card.
Here is information about the No Surprises Law which went into effect on January 1, 2022.
How does telehealth work?
I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to conduct online video sessions. You will receive a link and directions prior to your session.
Here is information about HIPPA Privacy Practices.
Do you accept HSAs or FSAs?
Yes - you can use both health savings accounts (HSA) and flexible spending accounts (FSA) to pay for your sessions.
I have an emergency. What do I do?
If you are at risk of hurting yourself or others, call 911 or go to a hospital emergency room.
